Amazon Basin Hydrometeorology
The Amazon Basin lies across the equator, so the climate is established by the motion of the equatorial low pressure region. The result is a very rainy wet season and a very dry dry season with two transitions. The wet season is characterized by short periods of rain several times each day, with time distribution of rainfall similar to that expected for thunderstorms. The dry season frequently experiences less than 10 mm of rainfall.
