A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Detention basins are commonly used to store runoff from the urban area so that the stored runoff can be released slowly, thus avoiding impact on existing drainage facilities. For a given watershed and pumping plant capacity, detention basin size is dependent on selection of the appropriate design storm. This paper presents a simple method for estimating the required size of the basin.
