Simulating the Lighting Electricity Consumption of Hotel Building: A Case from China
Lighting electricity contributes 20%–60% to the total electricity consumption of hotel buildings in China, and the use of reasonable lighting sources and intelligent lighting system are always ignored by lighting designers and property management staff. Using a five-star hotel in Wuhan, China, for case study, this study adopted eQuest software tool to simulate the electricity consumption of the building and analyzed its annual and monthly electricity use to identify the electricity reduction potential. Results showed that lighting source selections and reasonable lighting strategy were critical for reducing building lighting electricity use, and should be emphasized in hotel building energy management.
