This paper presents Part 1 of a two-part case-study on the Cascade Pole site (site) sediment remediation. This part of the case study presents the site background and history, the chemicals of concern and related sources, the regulatory process, the site environmental investigations, the Sediments Operable Unit (SOU) cleanup action plan (CAP), and the construction permitting process. Part 2, a separate paper in these proceedings, addresses remedial design and construction.
