A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Lifeline Performance, El Salvador Earthquakes, January 13 and February 13, 2001
The two earthquakes in El Salvador caused significant damage to lifelines, housing and buildings, especially in the rural areas of the country. The earthquakes resulted in an extraordinary number of landslides that disrupted roads and highways, damaged lifelines, and structures in the cities and villages. In general lifelines performed well in the capital city of San Salvador, good portion was due the lessons learned from the 1986 earthquake and the country's need to adapt during the 1977–1992 civil war.
