Load Displacement Behavior of ACIP Piles in Cohesive Soils
In order to better quantify the performance of ACIP piles in cohesive soil the load-displacement behavior of ACIP pile at the NGES-UH was investigated. A database of ten other full-scale ACIP piles in cohesive soil with diameters ranging from 406 to 457 mm and lengths varying from 9.7 to 28 m was also investigated. The measured pile capacities varied from 898 to 3648 kN (100 to 410 tons). A non-dimensional hyperbolic relationship was used to verify the non linear load-displacement behavior of full scale load test data of eleven ACIP piles in cohesive soils in Texas. For the ACIP piles in cohesive soils, 50% of the ultimate load was achieved in the displacement range of 0.3% to 2% of the diameter. The ultimate capacity of the piles was determined using the hyperbolic relationship. The load transfer behavior of ACIP pile in cohesive soil was also studied.
