Engineering Considerations for Coastal Wetland Restoration
This paper presents some of the key engineering considerations associated with coastal wetland restoration. A general wetland restoration project approach is first described, followed by discussion of the various engineering disciplines required to develop a successful project. Primary engineering disciplines include coastal engineering, hydraulics and hydrology, water quality, civil (earthwork), geotechnical, construction methods and cost estimating. Objectives of each discipline are presented, along with key concepts and typical tools used by the engineer.
