Synthetic Coefficients for Streamflow Routing
A solution for the problem of computing channel routing coefficients for reaches were no runoff data exists is presented. Diagrams correlating channel physical characteristics with corresponding routing factors are presented, considerably simplifying such computations. A computer program is available, saving time and effort considerably. Only three channel physical characteristics are necessary to refer to the developed charts. These are: the reach length, in miles; the reach slope (pure number); and the channel capacity, in cubic feet per second. Effects of the channel roughness and the degree of channel improvement on the developed routing indexes are discussed.
