Distribution of Reinforcing Steel in Concrete Beams and Slabs
The object of this paper is to determine the correct amount of reinforcing steel required in the top of concrete beams and slabs at the supports for varying degrees of continuity.
The area of steel in the bottom at mid-span plus the average area in the top, over the supports, is shown to be equal to the area required in the bottom of a simply supported span of the same length carrying the same load.
