A BIM-LCA Integrated Environmental Impact Assessment for Prefabricated Concrete Residential Buildings
With the concept of green buildings being increasingly promoted, life cycle assessment (LCA) is regarded as a common but vital tool for buildings’ environmental performance evaluation. However, as the current mainstream of industrialized houses in China, the Assembly Building, especially prefabricated concrete (PC) residential building, has encountered specific difficulties in applying LCA such as data inadequacy and extensively repetitive work. Thus, this paper aims to propose a methodology using building information modeling (BIM) to solve the implementation dilemma of LCA for PC residential buildings in China. Based on the 3D model constructed by Revit, tally plug-in with GaBi database is applied as the core software for LCA inventory analysis and environmental impact assessment, while Energy Plus is adopted as an auxiliary tool to simulate the residential operation energy consumption. All the selected soft wares share the same. gbXML file format, thereby ensuring the operability of the coordinated platform. Finally, the superiority of the proposed methodology is demonstrated by a case study.
