Stability of Trenches Filled with Fluids
This paper traces the historical development of the slurry trench wall. Typical slurry compositions are described and expressions are given for penetration of slurry, blowout gradient, filter cake formation, and stability analysis. Distance of penetration of the slurry trench backfilled with soil is used as a cutoff. A mechanism for determining the stability of the trench during construction is described.
