Research on Influence of Aggregate Gradation on the Performance of Porous Asphalt Pavement
To determine the optimal asphalt content in porous asphalt mixtures, the drain-down experiments together with theContabro and Marshall test have been done in the lab. As a result, it is possible to determine the optimal asphalt content by synthesizing the results of these three tests. Also, in order to study the influence of aggregate gradation on the performance of the pavement, four different gradations with different components of aggregate are designed. Then, their road performance was studied; and this included anti-rutting, water stability permeability and skid resistance with optimal asphalt content. Consequently, it was found that the influence of aggregate gradation on performance is obvious. Therefore, an appropriate gradation with a good air void content is important to ensure satisfactory performance of porous asphalt mixtures. Meanwhile, the test results show that the mixture with air void gradation ratio ranging from 18% to 24% has betteranti-rutting, water stability, permeability and skid resisting performance.
