On Modelling of Collective Behaviour of Hydro-Fractures in Rockmasses
This study presents prelimenary results of modelling of hydraulic fractures growth. The hydro-fractures are modelled by 2D cracks in elastic plane. The problem is reduced to a system of singular integral equations. The latter is solved by the standard method of mechanical quadratures. The analysis of fracture characteristics for different initial crack configurations has been performed in order to simulate possible hydro-fracture trajectories. It is shown that peripheral cracks penetrating into the rockmass tend to divert from the vertical direction, which is due to the interaction with the other cracks.
