Essential Elements of Equipment Seismic Qualification to ASCE 7 by Shake Table Testing
This paper details the role that a building code recognized shake table test protocol for nonstructural building components serves to insure clarity for both the manufacturer and design professional to simplify compliance. Without a building code recognized test protocol it will be shown that qualification testing is inconsistent, at best, leading to confusion for verification of specification compliance. Also discussed will be the importance of seismic anchorage and the implementation of an ongoing mitigation program for the life of the facility.
