Research on Comprehensive Capacity of Urban Expressway Toll Station
Restricted by urban layout, land use, and road network planning, the urban expressway toll station is often directly connected with urban roads. The traffic operation of a toll station is not only affected by the traffic flow of expressways, but also by the adjacent urban roads. Therefore, in the study of the capacity of urban expressway toll stations, the capacity of toll lanes, expressway ramps and adjacent urban roads should be considered comprehensively. This paper presents a method to analyze the comprehensive capacity of the urban expressway toll station and takes a toll station as an example to analyze. Results indicate that the capacity of toll lanes is the highest, and the capacity of intersection entrance lanes of adjacent urban road or expressway ramps is the lowest, which is the bottleneck of the road network. The research results can provide a new idea for the capacity assessment of urban expressway toll station.
