Resistance Equation for Alluvial-Channel Flow
The equation developed by Keulegan for resistance to turbulent flow in uniform rigid-boundary conduits can be used (with reasonably accurate results) to represent resistance to turbulent flow in alluvial channels providing that a mathematical correction is made and certain channel conditions exist. The results of this study may be useful in eliminating some of the empiricism that was introduced to reduce bias in the modified Einstein method of computing total sediment load.
