Dendritic One-Dimensional Unsteady Flow (FLDWAV/DAMBRK) Model of the Sevier River, Utah
Version 1-0-0 of FLDWAV, a flood routing program developed by the National Weather Service (NWS) and released in November 1998, is intended to replace NWS DAMBRK and DWOPER programs used widely in recent years. Several enhancements have been added to the new program, and one of the distinguishing features of FLDWAV as compared to DAMBRK is its capability to model a system of interconnected waterways while DAMBRK models only single waterways. The Sevier River in central Utah with seven major dams and a major tributary affords a good system for the application of these models. In this paper, a combination DAMBRK and FLDWAV model of the Sevier River is described. FLDWAV is used to model the reach of the river which has a tributary with a dam, and DAMBRK is used for the remaining reaches with dams on the main stem.
