Application of Geosynthetic Pack Piles for Soft Ground Reinforcement
Geosynthetic pack piles were manufactured by using polyester (PET) and Basalt woven mats and their properties in weak ground reinforcement applications were examined. The purpose of these packs is to facilitate and act as flexible forms for the construction of concrete piles. Experimental data from tests, geosynthetic pack piles were evaluated and compared. Index tests and large-scale laboratory pullout tests were performed. Basalt woven mats showed better performance as compared to PET mats in terms of tensile properties and chemical resistance. On the other hand, PET mats showed excellent seam strength and pullout properties than Basalt woven mat. Especially, 10T/m PET mat showed the most stable pullout property among tested geosynthetics pack piles.
