ICT – Support for Management of Emergency Situations in Flood and Geotechnical Engineering

A generalized approach is described aiming at a public system for flood crisis management at rivers in which the public is deeply involved and then looking at a closed system such as managing crisis on a geotechnical construction site where most information is private. Web-based technology has been used as widely as possible to provide easy access at any time and from any place. This paper covers aspects of data, monitoring, alerting and information access. For crisis management navigation through information should be supported by appropriate tools. For the closed system at building sites an approach based on an information model is presented. The aspect of virtual crisis management is briefly touched.
