Measured versus Predicted Shaft Resistance of H- and Closed Ended Pipe Piles in Sands
This paper describes the installation of the driven steel H- and CEP piles, presents the dynamic load test results as compared with predicted design values and evaluates the performance of the predictive methods. Based on the data obtained, it appears that the DRIVEN and WEAP-SPT (for H-piles only) tend to largely over predict skin resistance in sands and the SPT and WEAP-SPT (for CEP piles) methods provide a reasonable but slight overestimation of the skin resistance in sands.
