Tidal Model of Northumberland Strait
The effect on tides of an 8-mile crossing from the mainland to Prince Edward Island, Canada, is established. Special problems imposed by the small model scale (1:6,400) and the large scale distortion (100:1) are described. It is concluded that major changes in the tidal regime will be avoided if at least 1/3 of the present flow area at the site of the crossing is retained.
