Experimental and Analytical Study of a Folded Plate
A study of a simple-span, aluminum, folded plate model consisting of three north-light shells is presented. Values of longitudinal stresses, transverse moments, and vertical joint deflections, determined experimentally and alalytically, are given. Analytical results obtained by the ordinary folded plate theory, the theory of elasticity, and the elementary beam theory are compared with experimental results, and the validity of the assumptions used in the analytical methods is examined.
