A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Theoretical solutions for the vibrations of foundations resting on soil have been studied and evaluated. For vertical vibrations of a machine foundation, it is usually necessary to use the theory for an oscillator resting on an elastic semi-infinite body because of the important effects introduced by oscillations of the soil. This effect becomes of less importance if the force of the oscillator varies with the frequency of rotation. The use of Sung's theory for vertical foundation vibrations is outlined and curves are presented which may be used for analysis or design.
