Slip of Joints Under Static Loads
The primary purpose of this investigation has been to determine the slip of structural steel double-lap joints assembled with high-strength steel bolts when subjected to stresses in the design range and somewhat beyond. The joints were subjected to short-time static loading. Although most of the joints were tested in tension, some were tested in compression and in combined compression and torsion. This paper reports the results of seventy-two tests, which are part of a continuing investigation.
