Salt-Water Interface Near a Fresh-Water Canal
A group of theoretical equations were derived that describe the flow from a fresh-water canal, bounded on both sides by impervious side walls, into an originally saline-saturated medium. These equations describe the relationships between the geometry of the canal, the characteristics of the solids and fluids, the depth of embedment of the impervious side walls, and the geometry of the salt water-fresh water interface. Curves describing these relationships were plotted to facilitate the application of the theoretical equations to practical problems.
