Analog Computers Applied to Elasto-Plastic Systems
There is described herein a circuit which can adapt differential analog computers to solve the equations of motion of systems incorporating springs with elasto-plastic resistance characteristics. The application of this method to a single-story structure is described and illustrated. The circuit can be u se d in conjunction with multi-degree-of-freedom systems with or without viscous damping. Interesting possibilities for further research are briefly described.
