Relationships Between Pipe Resistance Formulas
Relationship between modern concepts of pipe resistance and older empirical formulas is clarified, and simple procedure developed to derive exponential formula applicable to known range of flow conditions; data on resistance measurements in water mains in service indicate that head loss varies with discharge to power nearly equal to 2.0 rather than 1.85 as commonly assumed.
