Surges in Panama Canal Reproduced in Model
A 1 : 60 scale model of Gaillard (formerly Culebra) Cut was built in the Panama Cana l Hydraulics Laboratory for the study of surges caused by lock operations. The verification tests described in this paper consist of water-surf ace observations of model and prototype at corresponding locations and times, during and after corresponding lock operations. The success of these tests was made possible by the cooperation of various divisions of the Panama Canal.
