Lock Manifold Experiments
In connection with the design of the Third Locks of the Panama Canal, a series of experiments dealing with the hydraulics of manifolds was performed in The Panama Canal Hydraulics Laboratory during 1939 and 1940. This paper presents a summary of the test results. Certain introductory and theoretical material which appeared desirable has been included. A method of predicting the performance of a manifold by the use of single port test data is presented and the method is checked .by comparison with manifold tests. Some of the data are presented in abridged form but transcripts of original and more complete records have been filed with the Engineering Societies Library.
