A Study on Dynamic Road Network Composition Based on Variable Message Signs
Variable message signs display traffic information of the road network which is composed of several adjacent downstream nodes and roads, and the composition of the road network is static. The authors considered factors such as real-time road speed, historical road speed, real-time volume, and important functions and connectivity. This helped establish a model for selecting and displaying the road network composition dynamically. According to an evaluation function, the authors decided when the road network structure should be changed. The authors proposed a specific algorithm to realize the model suitably.
