Noise Barriers by Steep Vegetated Walls Reinforced with Geosynthetics -An Economical Alternative?
The use of reinforced steep walls in connection with mineral recycling materials as a protection against traffic noise is discussed as a technically innovative and economical solution observing the prescribed emission limit values for construction materials. The steep wall can be vegetated. With the help of a testing wall with a length of 70 m and a height of 4.5 m it is shown that such innovative solutions for noise protection may save energy and resources. Moreover, vegetated steep noise protection walls are also economically competitive with conventional noise protection systems.
