The limit design of a symmetrical steel floor system of crossed prismatic beams by the simple plastic theory neglecting torsional rigidity is presented. Collapse mechanisms for the different support conditions of the floor beams are determined and represented by means of collapse lines. The analysis also deals with equivalent concentrated loads and is extended to include the tentative case of “active reactions.”
