Investigation of Weathered Granite for Pavement Material in Coastal Areas of Shandong Province
The pavement engineering properties of typical weathered granite material and cement stabilized weathered granite material in coastal areas of Shandong Province was analyzed through indoor test. The results show that weathered granite material has favorable grain composition and compaction property. The compacted weathered granited material meets the strength requirements of the subgrade for heavy traffic highway. According to the geological distribution and engineering properties of the weathered granites in Weihai City could be divided into the Proterozoic era partition and the Mesozoic era partition. The addition of coarse aggregate could have a significantly positive effect on the strength, water and temperature stability, soluble salt corrosion resistance of the cement stabilized weathered granite material. When coarse aggregate content is increased from 20% to 30%, the increasement of the material strength and corrosion resistance, water and temperature stability is much more significant, which could lead to more excellent cost performance.
