A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The 163,000 sq ft extension to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab provides a beautiful example of how a building’s design can promote interaction and collaboration among the people working within its walls. Making those walls—and the rest of the building’s interior spaces—as open and transparent as possible played a critical role in achieving that goal, which not even a delay of four years between the initial design of the project and the start of construction could thwart.
