Evaluation of Alternative Subway Routes
A practical automatic computer method of assigning passenger trips to a proposed traffic facility is outlined and the report gives the results of applying this method to proposed subway systems in Metropolitan Toronto. Where adequate origin-destination data are available, the method can be used directly for a rapid transit system, or with minor modifications for other types of traffic facilities, such as commuter lines or expressways.
