Behavior of a Pile Group in Multilayered Poroelastic Soils due to a Vertical Loading
This paper presents a coupled method of the analytical layer element and finite element for investigating the behavior of a pile group with a rigid cap in multilayered poroelastic soils due to a vertical loading. Each pile in the group is modeled as a one-dimensional bar by the finite-element method. Based on the analytical layer element solutions for the multilayered poroelastic soils, solutions for the interaction problem are obtained by incorporating the compatibility condition between the pile group and poroelastic soils. Numerical examples are provided to study the influences of the pile–soil stiffness ratio, pile length–radius ratio, soil stratification, and time factor on the time-dependent response of the pile group in multilayered poroelastic soils.
