Evolution of Fabric Anisotropy in Granular Soils under Triaxial Loadings
To investigate the relationship between fabric anisotropy and macroscopic stresses of granular soils, three-dimensional discrete element analysis was performed. Eight triaxial stress probing tests were simulated, and the variation of the degree of fabric anisotropy was estimated in terms of the cross-anisotropic fabric tensor. Regardless of the direction of stress paths, there was a unique relationship between the degree of fabric anisotropy and the stress ratio in lower stress ratios ranging from –0.1 to 0.6.
