Responses of Kuwaiti Government Dwelling Occupants Regarding Their Perception, Preferences, and Behaviours
Kuwaiti Government is bound by law to provide Government dwellings to each Kuwaiti male getting married within a maximum period of eight years. The demand for Kuwaiti Government dwellings increased by eight percent each year, which reached more than one hundred thousand in 2014. This paper establishes what problems currently exist with the design, materials, and construction used in contemporary Kuwaiti Government dwellings. The paper investigates social, psychological and health values and cultural meanings of dwellings and householders, as well as the occupant’s satisfactions, attitudes and behaviour from living in the Government dwellings. The sample selection of this paper is limited to Kuwaiti Government Dwellings; 70 husbands and 70 wives Kuwaiti citizen owners only living in Al-Nahda town in Kuwait. This paper is part of a doctoral research project conducted by the lead author at Cardiff Metropolitan University. The paper will be useful to academics, designers, contractors, environmental engineers, and building owners.
