Finite Element Modeling Approach for Flexible Pavements with Geosynthetics
A finite element model was developed for flexible pavements, and will be implemented to analyze data acquired from seventeen heavily instrumented test sections, reinforced with geosynthetics. The model will enable the prediction of critical stresses and strains as a result of vehicular loads. The significance of the methodology and supporting variables, methods, and models selected to complete the modeling approach will be the focus of this paper. More specifically, the type of model, selection of model parameters, choice of material models, and testing scheme developed to provide material properties will be described in detail.
