A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
During the past eighteen months the writer has been in charge of about 60 miles of new railway construction, on which were built a number of different structures, some of them not usual in new railway work in the West, and, thinking that perhaps it might enable someone similady situated to make approximate estimates of cost, or help in the design of masonry to be built in advance of the track, he begs to submitthis paper.
It would be prnper to state that there is no claim for Originality in the plans, many of them being merely modifications of the standard plans of the rnad, the othern having been used elsewhere by other members of the engineering profession.
