A Procedure for Predicting Micropile Resistance for Earth Slope Stabilization
Uncertainties in load transfer mechanisms have prevented widespread use of slope stabilization by micropiles. A procedure to (1) estimate the lateral and axial resistance of micropiles based on soil-structure interaction methods and (2) incorporate the resistance of micropiles into slope stability analysis is presented. Examples of laboratory and field data used to develop the procedure are also presented, along with important design considerations related to on-going research.
