Flow in subirrigation pipes as a particular case of manifold flow is analyzed. Approximate solutions for the longitudinal velocity and lateral outflow distributions are obtained in analytical form, and a similarity number characterizing the subirrigation flow pattern is defined. Simple formulas relating to the uniformity of lateral outflow distributions and to required supply head are derived. Experimental data support the usefulness of analytical results.
