Project Management Strategies to Improve Productivity: Case of Singapore
This paper aims to investigate the key project management strategies that can help improve the productivity of the construction industry. To achieve this goal, a comprehensive literature review was conducted first to identity the prevailing management strategies and productivity indicators used by the industry. Then, based on the results of literature review a questionnaire was developed and disseminated to 53 companies in the construction industry of Singapore. Data collected by the questionnaire was analyzed using the approach of partial least square-structural equation modeling. Results showed that “planning and communication” is the most important strategy, followed by “logistics”, “project strategic management”, “human resource”, and “on-site management”. This research revealed the critical construction management strategies that can improve productivity and filled the gaps of current knowledge body of productivity. It can also deepen practitioners' understanding of the role of strategies in improving productivity and help them develop more effective strategies.
