Deterioration Analysis and Forecasting Model of Urban Bridges
This paper proposes a new index named “bridge deterioration rate,” using recent 10 years bridge data in Shanghai. Significance and correlation analysis were conducted to finally derive the top three main influence factors: bridge age, location (road grade), and deck pavement type. Accordingly, the bridge age is considered as independent variable. The bridge deterioration models were constructed with respect to the bridge location and deck pavement type separately. The characteristics of diverse bridges and deck systems were analyzed based on the proposed model. Finally, the distribution of bridge state in next two years was predicted. The result shows that both the whole bridge and deck system deteriorate fast followed by slow (like a concave curve). The deterioration mode under distinct groups differs from each other, especially the case in diverse deck pavement types.
