Non-dimensional Peak Breach Outflow Analysis with Dam Breach Parameters
Three non-dimensional numbers are used to explore how the peak outflow changes at a dam breach section. The non-dimensional numbers are Dam Breach Number, the ratio of final breach width to depth, and the side slope of a breach section. It is shown that the Dam Breach Number is the dominant factor that affects peak outflow. The ratio of breach width to depth and the side slope have increased effects on peak outflow when the Dam Breach Number is greater than 1.
