Maintenance Interval for Stormwater Hydrodynamic Separators
Twelve (12) stormwater manufactured treatment devices along New Jersey highways were selected for monitoring, analysis, and development of a maintenance interval. The depth of bottom sediment trapped in the hydrodynamic separators was measured every three months over three years after cleanout. Based on the measured rate of sediment accumulation, a maintenance interval of three years for urban/heavy traffic areas and four and a half years for non-urban/light traffic areas was determined. These maintenance intervals assume typical site conditions. A maintenance interval of one and a half years was recommended where land surface erosion problems occur.
