Centrifuge Modeling of Penetration of Partially Plugged Pile in Soft Clay
This paper presents centrifuge model data and describes a semi-empirical approach to predict short-term total radial stress and pore pressure changes around closed-ended pile. The results show that, pile jack-in caused a gradual build-up in total stress and pore pressure, which reached a transient peak just as the pile-tip reaches the level of the transducers. The horizontal stress and pore pressure measurements observed during jack-in of the pile are compared with variation of the CET, leading to the proposal of a semi-empirical method that allows stress and pore-pressure changes to be determined.
