The Relation between Stormwater and Sediment Quality in Stormwater Ponds
Four urban catchments in Sweden, where wet stormwater ponds have been constructed, have been studied according to stormwater quality and pond sediment quality. It is shown that the inflow event mean concentrations (EMCs) fit the log-normal distribution and available equations for calculating mean and confidence intervals are discussed. There is shown to be a correlation between inflow EMCs and sediment concentrations of heavy metals. Further a regression equation of the relation between inflow EMCs and sediment concentrations is developed. It is concluded that for characterising the pollutant load from a catchment, where stormwater ponds have been constructed, analysing pond sediments is an appropriate method.
