A Constitutive Model for Cyclic Analysis of Unsaturated Soils
In this paper, a fully coupled elasto-plastic model is presented for the cyclic analysis of unsaturated soils based on the bounding surface theory. The bounding surface is defined in terms of effective stresses using a simple and versatile function. A modified radial mapping rule is adopted enabling prediction of a range of cyclic loading paths including drained and undrained, isotropic and deviatoric. The model captures saturated as well as unsaturated behavior in a unified manner.
