Studi Semiotik Ruang Hunian Tradisional Suku Sasak (Studi Kasus Dusun Sade, Lombok Tengah)
Sasak Tribe have cultural orders which are maintained and established, as seen on the traditional settlement located in the Sade village. Each section is expressed by certain symbolizations according to Sasak’s beliefs. Sasak traditional house in Sade village is called a bale tani or bale gunung rata. Inside the house there are divisions of space that have different purposes. For example, bale dalem is a place for cooking (kitchen), a place to store heirlooms and also a place for girls of the family who is not married to sleep. Bale dalem is also a place to give birth. Bale luar is a place to receive guests as well as a family gathering place. The division of space is visible. There is a dividing wall between bale dalem and bale luar. However, its elements have meanings worthy to be studied. Meanings that can not be immediately understood, as manifested by signs or symbols. This study focuses on review of the meaning of traditional Sasak residential space in the Sade village seen from semiotic approach. The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of space seen from Sasak people's daily activities, so that one day the concept of a living room space can be used as a source of identity in designing residential space with locality of the archipelago.
